Crista MacMillan
Crista was raised in the small village of Metcalfe where she developed some of her core values. She grew up and worked on the family sod farm learning hard work, loyalty, and acquiring a love for the outdoors. She took to the ice at age 3, becoming a competitive figure skater until her late teens. Through her skating career, Crista was able to help coach young skaters, expanding her love for the sport and physical activity. She also passed on her academic knowledge through tutoring peers and younger children throughout high school.
Always interested in sciences, math, sports and well-being, physiotherapy became the obvious career choice at a very young age. Crista completed an Bachelor of Science with Honors in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. She followed this with a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario.
Ready to start her professional career and raise a family, Crista returned to Metcalfe, where she and her husband built their family home. They have 4 amazing children as well as a large network of family and friends. You can always find her being active with her family and friends, pushing them to experience new things, explore new places and live life to its fullest. She has forever been the number one fan to her family and friends, cheering them on from the sidelines and occasionally fulfilling the roll of personal trainer.
Crista started her professional career between the two small-town clinics of Winchester and Kemptville, where she developed as a therapist, gaining knowledge and experience practicing alongside many fantastic colleagues. Crista’s treatment philosophy is to help individuals improve their mobility, health and well-being while empowering them to reach their goals. Over the years, Crista has advanced her training in acupuncture and dry needling, concussion rehabilitation, and vestibular rehabilitation. Together, with exercise and physical activity, Crista uses manual therapy techniques, traditional acupuncture and Gokavi Transverse Technique - GTT (a specific dry needling technique.) Crista is passionate about her profession and enjoys the fact that it is ever evolving, with boundless new discoveries, techniques and philosophies. She continues to attend a variety of valuable post-graduate courses to increase her knowledge and expertise.
Crista has always had the dream of owning her own clinic, and now this has become a reality with Move Better Physiotherapy. With growth Crista’s ideas for Move Better Physiotherapy will be put into action better supporting all of its patients and the community as a whole.
